Language ReferencesAccents Main Page This is an attempt to index the large number of materials which provide reference to the language of the Elizabethan period. For the most part this is overkill; a faire worker needs a presentable pronunciation and a basic vocabulary set. This sort of basic linguistic skill should be obtainable through the pronunication practices, basic vocabulary, and Introductory References. The volume of material is large; a simple query for "English language -- Early modern, 1500-1700" produced over 300 records from the UC melvyl system. Note that many of the references are true scholarly texts and may be available only at Universities or large libraries. Films: "The Story of English" that appeared on PBS.
