This is yet another pattern which is great for necklaces and decorative chains.
Some people refer to it as the Bird Cage pattern, but Idiot's Delight is the most common
name I've heard.
The start
The beginning of this pattern is exactly the same as for the Box pattern.
Start with a doubled chain of three. Flip the last two links back (one to the top and
one to the bottom). Then push them forward so that they push though the second set of
links making them open slightly. Place two open links through the links that you flipped
so that it sits inside the opening formed by the second set of links.
Continuing the chain
Now, link two rings to your end links, then add two more to those. When you flip the
end rings this time, they should flip toward and away from you, rather than up and down.
Continue doing this to create a beautiful, alternating pattern of "cages".
Tips
It's easy to lose your place in this pattern because of end links flipping back over
your end links. Attaching extra links to the beginning of the pattern will help to avoid
this. Should you wish to take a break, adding the one or two sets of links after a flip
will help you find your place quicker.
